For the first female Canadian pilots Eileen Vollick.
COPA Flight 68 has extended an invitation to the Ninety-Nines to fly or drive to CYVV (Wiarton) on Friday, August 9th to celebrate Eileen Vollick’s birthday. Eileen, born in Wiarton on August 2, 1918, was Canada’s first licensed female pilot. Last year, Denise Yerdon, one of Eileen’s granddaughters, drove in from New York State to join us for lunch on what would have been Eileen’s 100th birthday. An indoor pot-luck lunch is planned – Marilyn Dickson is bringing the birthday cake – so please join your fellow pilots if you can, either by road or by air. If you have a seat in your airplane or car, offer a lift to a fellow Ninety-Nine. |
