An historic election at the Ninety-Nines, International Organization of Women Pilots.
This is the first time in its 93 year history that someone from outside of the US has been elected as its President.
It’s fitting that the incoming President, Robin Hadfield, lives in Canada…after all, in the 1950s when the Ninety-Nines expanded its Chapters outside of the US for the first time, they went to Canada first.
“Sitting in the seat of women who have made aviation history, such as Amelia Earhart (the first president of the 99s, and today is still the most recognized name in womens aviation, Jackie Cochran (everyone should know her name and accomplishments, which still stand today), Lousie Thadden (an aviation legend and holder of many records for altitude, endurance and air racing, Blanche Noyes (one of the first ten women to hold a pilot license, and aviation world record holder, Betty Gilles (first pilot to qualify for the WAFS), and so many other very accomplished women in aviation is daunting, but something I look forward to taking on!”, said newly elected President Robin Hadfield.
